Membership Coordinator
1. What responsibilties do you have in your position?
As Membership Coordinator my responsibilities include maintaining a database with all of the member information that is obtained from the registration forms that members
fill out at the beginning of the semester. Also, once all of the member information is received, myself and the other officers fill out the national registration forms that make YOU
a national member. After all of these formalities that take place at the beginning of the semester, it is my responsibility to put on member retreats for both semesters. Funding,
accomodations, and activities are all planned with the help of the other executive board members and a lot goes into making these events successful. Other than that I just try to
keep a nice rapport with all of the members and relay any of their concerns to the board.
2. How does your position contribute to SHPE-USC overall?
The members are the MOST important part of this organization, keeping them happy and putting on events that they are interested in is our main objective. We would be nowhere without the presence of our members which is why this is such an important position.
3. What is your most challenging objective throughout your term?
Although creating the database and filling out national forms is a tedious and time-consuming task, it only takes up a small portion of my term. I would say that the most challenging objective this term was creating a successful and enjoyable Member Leadership Retreat. Alot went into preparing for the event such as funding, accomodations, creating activities, and making sure we had food. In the end, everyone had a great time and that made it worth the work.
4. What is something you know now about your position that you wished you had known before?
In a way, I wish I had known the time commitment that I was signing up for. The good thing though is that this is a very organized and structured board and all of the executive board members have worked as a team to make this organization successful this year. While the time commitment has been more than I expected, I know that each and every board member is putting in their time as well and we still manage to put this organization on our priority list.
